After months of lurking the shadows, waiting for just the right time to electrify Lahore, Strings finally broke their silence and boarded the stage at the LGS grammathon – AND HOW!!It was extremely cold. People were trembling and there wasn’t enough space to stand the area was that tightly packed. But was it worth it? Heck yea!
The concert was opened by three amateur yet very excellent and talented bands. I am not joking when I say ‘excellent’ – they played brilliantly. The first band was 11th commandment. It started the show with a heavy metal rock song that mixed with the lightening effects and the smoke totally clicked with the crowd. The second band was a boy band that started of with ‘Junoon’ the crowd loved them. They moved to “Mahiya ve” by “Annie Princess”, which was seriously a bad move. It just seemed wrong and the crowd didn’t dig them either. However they ended with a great finishing song. The 3rd band was LGS’s own girl band called DKDC. The girls were extremely talented and knew what they were doing. The crowd adored them.
The concert was marred by the fact that the place was gender segregated, and prompted most boys to leave, considering that Strings performed on the girl’s side predominantly. But that does not take away from an extremely fun concert.
The Strings opened the night with “Koi Aanay Wala Hai ”. There was an array of smoke to follow the first lyric. The crowd went wild and everybody was screaming and signing along. People were making videos of the band, shouting and cheering them up or just simply swaying to the beat. After that the Strings plowed through recent material like “Najanay Kyoun” with Bilal and Faisal both dancing to the beat.
Strings did a set of 11 songs, all equally amazing. The crowd went berserk on the signature hits “Duur” and “Chaaye chaaye” and flowed with the rhythm on “Zinda Hoon” and “Kahani Mohabbat Ki” One incident that struck me as funny was Bilal literally singing while the mikes check, “Check 1, check, check!”

It was a really entertaining show. Thou I got to say the girls got the better deal. But as far as the band was concerned it was perfect. Faisal told the LGS crowd that it was their best concert ever and they are already looking ahead to the next year’s concert.
Strings ended the show with “Dhaani” which is one of their biggest hits. Strings put on a show to savor and didn’t disappoint the fans. This was a show well worth seeing and those who left early or didn’t show up really missed it. The band totally rocked the stage. Strings are consistently Pakistan’s most awe-inspiring band, and rest assured, Strings would still stick around for a long time to come.
