VJ Fatima – Interview by Tayyaba Khushi

PMR. What is your birth place? Where have you spend your childhood?
Fatima:
My birthplace is Karachi =) the best city in the world! I spent my childhood right here amidst the changing times, i travelled a lot while I was younger, but hometown is Karachi.

PMR. How did you become a VJ?
Fatima:
Interesting story here =). I came with Ahmed to audition, just to support him (we’ve been best friends since we’ve been kids) So I came along. We auditioned together, for me it was all fun and games, because I thought I didn’t fit the VJ criteria , even though I had just finished a sitcom for ARY Digital. But i guess they thought differently and here I am almost 4 years later giving this interview =)

PMR. Your Show ‘BIndass Bollywood’ , how do you find it bindaas?
Faima:
Oh absolutely!!!! Bindaas means care free, fun and devil may care! I am like that and my show is like that! We get calls from all sorts of people who put us in all sorts of situations with their questions treating it unlike any other request show. Its quite a treat, not knowing what to expect can be so much fun, so bindaas. And I’ve got a rockstar bindaas team as well – Salman and Kashif and Saud.

PMR. Your evergreen bollywood song so far?
Fatima:
Upph yeh kya sawal ker dia? Thats like asking me to pick between my love of sleeping and love of eating!! VERY difficult! But if you really want to know, from the top of my head, its a song from a movie called GHAR with Rekha, “tere bina jiya jaye na” – there are lots more! Im a huge fan of Lata and Rafi, and I love all sorts of music. I believe the best songs are whatever is medicine to your mind in that moment.

PMR. ‘All For Love’, who came up with the concept
Faima:
Our boss, Danish Khawaja, asked us to come up with a concept for a show, with Ahmed and I in it together. So one day amidst our chattering friends we were sitting and brainstorming. Everyone was sitting around young and in love and all of us had problems and issues with partners and loved ones. The idea just clicked like a lightbulb! Ahmed and i thought it was perfect for our generation!

PMR. How successfully have you solved people`s love problem?
Fatima:
I can say that I am theeee love guru! Friends and family always come to me for solutions. And the best part is that I love listening and I love helping. It makes me feel like, if I cannot make a larger difference its okay as long as I am making a smaller one. Its like a ripple effect. And it makes me happy to see people happy in their relationships. We get genuine callers and I think we help them out with all our experience. Which is to say is a lot 😉 between us co-hosts!

PMR. Do you yourelf believe in love?
Fatima:
Thats a secret I’ll never tell 😉

PMR. If you were to judge mutually, in a relationship, who creates problem (boys or girls)?
Fatima:
Honestly, thats a very black and white question. People forget that gray also exists. Its not a gender issue, its a personality issue. People have a different frame of mind, goals, perspectives at different stages in life thats why clashes arise and problems are created. When they are its upto both to resolve them.

PMR.How would you describe VJ Ahmed as a co-host in ‘All For Love’
Fatima:
Ahmed’s done this show since its inception, with different co-hosts. I just think he does an amazing job with me 😉 [that was a joke – maybe not 😉 ] On a serious note though, he just keeps getting better and better. It also has to do with the fact that there is absolutely no script, Ahmed and I interact pretty much like we do in real life and it translates great on screen. He drives me nuts on the show with his jokes and jibes, in a good way. In-fact we have had a lot of callers call in and take my side khe khe, and Ahmed gets all sad and I have to make it up to him. This show wouldn’t be as awesome as it is without Ahmed!

PMR. Who has been your ultimate source of support?
Fatima:
My parents and my elder brother have always been very supportive of my decisions and I’ve always asked them for advise with everything I do. God has given me the energy and the passion and the drive to make my dreams come true. Thank you God and thank you to my family. Love you.

PMR. If you were not a VJ the what had you been?
Fatima:
I think I can answer that question fairly enough 🙂 Ive always been very multi faceted. I enjoy exploring new avenues, doing things side by side, just keeping busy. I am also a certified aviator, a professional pilot. MashAllah se Im both!

PMR. At the end of the day how do you relief your stress?
Fatima:
I’ve got cats! They’re the most adorable creatures that exist on planet earth! Coming back from a rough day, they cuddle up and demand my complete attention. They just give you that sweet innocent face and you forget that there is anything wrong in the world.

PMR. What message would you give to the boys and girls who want to become a VJs.
Fatima:
Its not about being pretty or hot or macho or well built. Its a real job. As a VJ we have to connect with our audience, with our musicians and artists. We have to know about our industry, especially about music. You cannot face the camera and fool the audience because they are smart! Its a great job, with some amazing perks but its not all fun and games. You’ve got to work hard to make an impression, and work even harder to retain that impression.

PMR. What impression does PMR (pakmediarevolution.net) make on you?
Fatima:
I love the fact that PMR gives attention where it is most deserved, to our own. You guys promote Pakistani talent, whereas others seem to be forgetting and investing in international artists. I, myself log on to PMR as a platform to see whats going on, the latest buzz, the newest music. You guys are doing an excellent job! Good luck and keep it going.

  3. Then what happens is the classic heist movie tradition. To carry out the the task, Cobb’s ‘brainiac’ specialists team up again with him, Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), his longtime organizer; Tom Hardy (Eames), a “forger” who can shapeshift at will; and Yusuf (Dileep Rao), a powerful sedative supplier.
