VJ Shehzad – Interview by Tayyaba Khushi

PMR. What is your Date of Birth and birth place? Where have you spent your childhood?
Shehzad
: My date of birth is 30th January 1987. my place of birth is Rawalpindi, Pakistan and spent all of my childhood and teenage in Islamabad.

PMR. You were the winner of ‘ARY Musik VJ Hunt Show’ How complicated were the tasks for you given by the judges?
Shehzad:
Most of the tasks were very difficult but had some experiences from radio and other tv channels where I used to work earlier so went through all of them easily. But was a good experience and learning over all.

PMR. Was your dream to become a VJ?
Shehzad:
No it wasn`t in the begining but my father always wanted me to do something like this infact he wanted me to be the next Shahrukh Khan or Brad Pitt, so started working on it. But I know that I am a jack of all trades.

PMR. You have a rock-style look, do you parents support or criticize on your looks?
Shehzad:
As.Ever since my childhood I wanted to grow my hair long, but i could not due to my school or universities strict policy so atlast i got it. My father is quite supporting about all this sometimes my mother runs after me with a scissor but i get away with it : ).infact my sisters tell me that I look dam good with that silly scissor cut.

PMR. ‘Guru ho Ja Shuru’ who initiate it?
Shehzad:
GURU HO JA SHURU was truely my and Adil Malik’s idea who is the Events Head in ARY and no doubt a kind hearted person. a few people whom you get along with specially in Karachi where everybody is busy with there own work and the name was suggested by one of the finest directors of ARY Musik who is none other then Kamran Yusuf a.k.a kami.

PMR. You demand quite funky tasks by the participants, to what extend they fulfill the tasks?
Shehzad:
Well it depends as you all know that our tag line states ‘NO PAIN FULL GAME’ so its toatally up to the contestants because I am out there to give them cash prizes can not take all the money with me even though i wish, but I agree sometimes the tasks are difficult but we merge them with the easy ones so usually its all about being lucky even.

PMR. You visit a lot of places, what do you have to say about people who are camrea-shy & poeple who are camera-confident?
Shehzad:
Whenever I am on the streets with camera mostly people are reluctant so I have to convince them and I guess thats my part of job even, and I love those who are confident enough infront of the camera because they make my job easier and understand the fact that I am doing all this for them.

PMR.With VJ Urwa you have been recording DJuice Show, how was your experience in visiting various institute of Lahore? Students of which institute were enthusiastic?
Shehzad:
VJ Urwa is a fantastic person to work with and over all the experience was fabulous. Students of LUMS and superior university were the most energetic.

PMR. If you were not a VJ the what had you been?
Shehzad:
I would have been looking after my family buisness or would be doing something of my own related to marketing or management.

PMR. At the end of the day how do you relief your stress?
Shehzad:
Whenever I am stressed I just think that my head is chimney and all the frustration and stress are like second hand smoke, which is being exhaled out from the chimney. And believe me it works for me do give it a try but dont loose focus.

PMR. What message would you give to the boys and girls who want to become a VJs.
Shehzad:
Be well prepared and well equipped with all the confidence.

PMR. What impression does PMR (pakmediarevolution.net) make on you?
Shehzad:
Well seriously got to know about it from Mr. Salman Aziz, a great director and marketer. PMR is playing a big role in the music industry and seriously it just doesn`t sound revolution, I`ve strated feeling it around me, go ahead and feel revolutionized.
