Kiran Khan of Pakistan Army sets new national record in 100m butterfly by winning gold medal in 1 minute seven seconds in the 12th National Women Open Swimming Championship which started here at Pakistan Sports Complex on Friday.

This new national record was broken after a gap of six years. The previous record in this category was 1 minute 11.74 seconds.
In 100 metres freestyle, Kiran won the gold, followed by Mahnoor Maqsood with silver and Rida Mitha with bronze. In 100m breaststroke Linnna Sawan of Army won the gold, Khadija Khalid of Wapda claimed silver and Anush of Sindh grabbed bronze. In 400m individual, Kiran of Army clinched gold, Alina Haji of Sindh won silver and Aelia Mehdi of Army claimed bronze. In 100m butterfly individual medley, Kiran Khan won the gold with new national record and was followed by Eesha Khan of Army (silver) and Alina Haji of Sindh (bronze). In 100m backstroke Kiran again finished on the top, Aleesha Mitha of Sindh was second followed by Rida Mitha of Sindh. In 4x200m freestyle relay the Army team of Mahnoor, Aelia, Maniha and Kiran won the gold, while the Sindh including Alina, Anida, Areesha and Rida won the silver and Wapda team comprising Khadija, Sania, Ayesha and Rizma took the bronze medal.
After day one of women competition, Pakistan Army tops the table chart with 149 points and six golds, two silvers and one bronze. They are followed by Sindh who finished with 72 points with three silvers and four bronze medals. Wapda were fourth with one silver one bronze and 30 points. Punjab grabbed 18 points with no medal, Navy one point with no medal and Islamabad is yet to open their account.
