For the first time in Pakistan, the IBA Entrepreneurship Society (IBAES) and Vision-Link is hosting this 54-hour event where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build roducts, and launch startups from the 21-23rd October 2011 at IBA Main Campus, Karachi.

Startup Weekend is a global network of passionate leaders and entrepreneurs on a mission to inspire, educate, and empower individuals, teams and communities. Come share ideas, form teams, and launch startups.

Startup Weekend was created about three years ago in the US. Itself a startup, it has since grown into a global phenomenon. In the past year alone, there have been more than 100 Startup Weekends worldwide. On a global level, Startup Weekend partners and is sponsored by big names like Microsoft, Amazon, ODesk, Twillio and many more.also appeared on TechCrunch, CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe and many others.

As for as event is concerned, it goes something like: On Friday evening, everyone with a business idea gets the chance to deliver a 60-90 second pitch in front of the audience; the ideas are then voted on and a number of teams are formed organically around the ideas selected. The teams will spend the next day and a half working intensely, with the goal of having a working prototype, demo, wireframe, or investor pitch of the idea ready for presentation to a panel of investors and experienced entrepreneurs on Sunday afternoon. The panel selects the winning team(s), who will receive cash or in-kind prizes in the form of co-working space, further mentorship opportunities, and more.
