Theatre Hub is coming up with yet another exciting Urdu Sci-Fi

By Hiba Ahmad
Hard work, consistency and quality-this is what Theatre Hub is all about. After the impressive showing of ‘Jaal’ and ‘Nizam Sakka’, Theatre Hub is coming up with yet another exciting Urdu Sci-Fi play between 3rd to 5th February, called ‘Teesri Ankh’, which is directed by Talal Ali Jan and will be performed at Ali Auditorium (Feroz Pur Road). Theatre hub provides a platform for the talented people who are shattered by the main stream theatre culture. They always come up with something innovative and Sci-Fi is a genre which is not given much attention as it is difficult to perform; however, Theatre Hub has always tried to come up with something new and always strived to be creative.

The director Talal Ali Jan said, ‘This play is certainly very unique and fresh. Firstly, it is a Sci-Fi play and this genre seems to be alien for Lahore. We have had to work very hard for this play, although I feel that’s a given for any play we work on. But I am confident that in the end-our hard work will show in the usage of lights, costumes, make up and the inclusion of live music in the performance.’

Theatre Hub has previously produced 3 comedy and one murder mystery play since their debut project in August 2009, while the response for each of those plays has been immense. Therefore, the members of Theatre Hub are well aware of the expectations of them for this project.

Ahmer Zaman Khan, the Co-Founder and Marketing Manager at Theatre Hub said, ‘Things certainly feel different this year. There seems to be an aura of confidence this time around as we sense the approval of the mass theatre followers, and thus feel less pressure. Although taking on a challenging genre such as Sci-Fi would create doubts on anyone’s mind, but things certainly seem exciting and they will only get better as we move on to the final stages of our preparations. But our objective has always been to surpass benchmarks achieved in our previous plays, and that’s what we’re aiming for this time as well.’

Despite a challenging genre, it would only be fair to keep the faith on the team of Theatre Hub as they have consistently provided good quality in the past, and therefore, a visit to Ali Auditorium this February would certainly be highly recommended.
