Mumbai: Former Indian cricket captain and ace commentator Ravi Shastri has reportedly filed for divorce with the lawyer for divorce from his wife Ritu after 22 years of marriage. Shastri, who turned 50 in May this year, has reportedly decided to end his relations with wife Ritu and moved Bandra family court to seek divorce. Media reports suggest that Shastri has even shifted from his Worli apartment to a bachelor accommodation in Churchgate. The couple has a four-year-old daughter Aleka.
Ritu, daughter of an army officer and a classical dancer by training, married Shastri after a long period of courtship.
Reflecting on Shastri’ marriage with Ritu, his mother Laxmi says, “Ravi had a huge fan following which majorly constituted women.
Once, there was a very good marriage proposal for Ravi. I had asked him but he utterly refused saying he has someone in his mind. She was none other than Ritu.”
As per media reports, during his bachelor days, Shastri was in serious affair with bollywood actress Amrita Singh. But soon they broke up and Shastri married Ritu. After one year, Amrita went on to marry actor Saif Ali Khan.
