The seasoned Lahore based fashion house, NasreenShaikh, has launched a brand new prèt-a-porter label ‘Mahgul for NasreenShaikh’ which makes its runway debut at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013 in the emerging/new talent, multi designer showcase.

Mahgul for NasreenShaikh will be debuting with a capsule collection as part of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week’s Emerging/New Talent category in April 2013. Titled ‘The Archive Collection’, the designer has found inspiration in old photographs from the Civil and Military Gazette to create pieces that attempt to re-invent a traditional aesthetic sensibility in a more modern context.

Speaking about the launch of the new brand, NasreenShaikh has said: “I belong to a generation of fashion designers that have always been more low-key and deliberately less mainstream. Yet ready-to-wear is a burgeoning industry in Pakistan and our clients have been pushing us for our brand to become more accessible, affordable and relatable to a wider number of people. For me, who better to do that than my granddaughter, a young and accomplished fine artist in her own right who has trained with me for several years, who represents a fresh and new generation of talent in our industry. I am excited for the launch of Mahgul for NasreenShaikh and hope it is received well.
