Pink Floyd Hits number One on British Charts after 19 Years

For the first time in the history of its existence, British progressive rock band, Pink Floyd released its album ‘The Endless River’ after 1995 (after 19 years) and tops British Album Charts.

The latest album from Pink Floyd, released this Sunday, would be the last from the group and not surprisingly became the third fastest-selling by a single group or artist in 2014 after shifting more than 139,000 copies during the last week.

Described as a ‘Swan Song‘ for Wright, ‘The Endless River’ mostly comprises instrumental music. It is based on 20 hours of unreleased material the band wrote, recorded and produced with Wright during sessions for Pink Floyd’s previous studio album ‘The Division Bell’ (1994).

According to music critics, the album received mixed reviews, most of them noticing the lack of catchy tunes but many finding it good enough to listen.

They released their first record, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, in 1967, it reached No.6 in the UK chart.

All tracks produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Youth and Andy Jackson.
