Who isn’t waiting for this movie? This romantic flick starring Mahira Khan, Humayun Saeed and Armeena Rana Khan is releasing on July 18. Directed by Momina Duraid and Shahzad Kashmiri and is based on the novel ‘Bin Roye Aansoo’ written by Farhat Ishtiaq, Humsafar’s author. Saeed calls the movie a little mature than Humsafar. He also says that “But it will not just be a film; it will also be turned into a serial to be aired on Hum TV with the same cast.”
Is it going to be as heart-tearing and raw as the novel? We can only hope.
Bin Roye’s soundtrack released on June 13th and didn’t impress many. Below is PMR’s take on OST Bin Roye.
- Balle Balle
It’s actually a modern version of Shazia Manzoor’s Balle Balle. Sung by Shiraz Uppal and Indian playback singer Harshdeep Kaur, the video shows a typical Mehndi setting with Mahira Khan and Adeel Hussain doing a cheerful routine. Whoever expected it to be an item number, should settle down and expect a lovely Mahira doing her sweet girl-next-door regular with Adeel trying to jolt some energy in the show. Not one of the top. Mark it as disappointment number one of the soundtrack.
- Tere Bin Jeena
Written by Sabir Zaffar and composed by Sahir Ali Bagga, this anticipated track is sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Saleema Jawwad. Nothing wrong with the song, it’s a typical Rahat Fateh number and pretty harmless. Not a stand out again and yes, pretty long. The video features Mahira and Humayun in a ‘mela’ type backdrop with cheery everybody-joins-the-dance-routine-knowing-all-the-moves-already dance scene. Mark it as disappointment number two of the soundtrack
- Chan Chariya
A little shocking number. Nope, you got me wrong. It’s not good. Not good at all. I just failed to see where the song will fit in the rest of the bright and well-lit movie? Its 5.21 minutes of utterly unexciting music and Rekha Bhardwaj and Momin Durrani vocals. Maybe those ‘Mahi, mahi’ were not that bad. Kinda reminded me of that Bollywood song, ‘Tum Milay To Jeena Agaya’.
- Maula Maula
8 min long sufi song by Abida Parveen and Zeb Bangash. It’s slow and soothing. Its actually quite good with thought-provoking lyrics. Song starts going wrong after the 5th minute. As they say, too many cooks spoil the broth; Abida Parveen was enough for this sufi track.
- O Yaara
Composed by Sajjad Ali’s younger brother Waqar Ali and sung by Ankit Tiwari, O Yaara, is again not the best but a good, slow number with too many lyrics and less music. 2 minutes into the song, and it starts going wrong. Music and vocals are all over the place. I was not expecting it from Ankit Tiwari but then again, Rahet Fateh and Shiraz Uppal didn’t do much good, so what can a girl expect from others? Unimpressed.
- Bin Roye
Title track, which is sung by Shiraz Uppal, is the song which doesn’t sit on the same page as the movie but still struggles to be the ‘it’ song of the movie. It gets better in a few places then realizes it’s not supposed to as the other songs are well below the expectancy level as well. Chorus is not that bad though.
I’m realizing now that I’m now a part of those people who were making faces at the OST. Listen at you own risk.
