Since the elections of May 2013, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has only gone up in the terms of development. The area we called as one of the backwards region of Pakistan is now racing towards growth and expansion.

Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek Insaf, which administers province of KPK, which has been the target of critics and discouragers, marking them as supporters of ‘Taliban’ as well as promoters of irreligiousness (doesn’t  make sense, right?) has taken a big towards promotion of artists, poets, and other people coloring Pakistan with their beautiful art (of any kind), with monthly remuneration.

Singers, musicians, poets and other artists will be paid Rs30,000 by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Directorate of Culture.

The Culture Directorate Mehmood Khan says, in the statement released on Thursday (31st July), that underprivileged artists will be issued the stipend to carry on their creative work. He also said that amount of at least Rs180 million has been allocated for this good purpose. Initially 500 people will be provided the payment and standard for selection will be decided over another meeting of officials of the directorate, the committee of artists and journalist.

Culture defines a nation and creative people like our artists, singers, writers and musicians are a big asset of any nation. This step, for artist to be paid monthly in KPK, is a step taken towards encouraging them in their work, a step towards development.
